Amazon Beta Services

A beta testing operations platform serving tens of thousands of Amazon employees — unifying the experience for testers, managers, and operations teams across the Devices organization.

Amazon's device beta testing was fragmented across multiple internal tools with no unified workflow. Testers, program managers, and operations teams each had their own systems, their own processes, and their own gaps. This project consolidates all of it into a single platform.

I lead design on this — working with one product manager and one software engineering manager. The prototype below walks through a beta participant's experience of reporting a bug during a test session, built with Cloudscape components in VS Code.

Prototype walkthrough: external participant bug reporting flow within the beta services platform.

Scope

This isn't a feature redesign — it's a new platform. The system handles beta program creation, participant enrollment, test assignment, bug reporting, manager oversight, and operations-level analytics. Every workflow was designed from zero, with the constraint that it had to feel immediately familiar to anyone already using Amazon's internal tooling ecosystem.

The design is production-quality code — built in VS Code with Cloudscape library components, not static mockups. Stakeholders interact with a living prototype, not a slide deck.
